"Soup to Go" is a marketing promotion project for the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art). I wanted to present artwork in the most accessible, everyday form possible. Tomato soup is a universally recognized comfort food, and when I saw Warhol’s artwork with Campbell’s soup cans, a question entered my mind: What if I designed a food cart for Campbell’s Soup Cans? I referenced older model van forms and designed a mobile tomato soup food cart and accompanying promotional van, developing menu and poster work to make it a reality. I envisioned having this be a citywide activity in New York, inviting everyone, regardless of age and career, to partake in artwork in an accessible, concrete form.
When people receive the tomato soup, they might wonder, “What is this for?”Then they will want to learn about MoMA Museum and Andy Warhol.
